Our Story
EDON Marine is a leading manufacturer of rowing sculls. In 1998, Ken Edwards built his first racing scull and this was the beginning of what became EDON Marine. Ken was selected as an Australian light weight rower and winner of numerous World Masters Rowing events with over 60 years in the sport and countless years in the Australian surf. This experience, coupled with his work as an Engineer and many years working with fluid mechanics and building rowing shells is a testament to the excellence of design and innovative manufacturing process he pioneered.
Ken is the only manufacturer globally that has mastered the three layer, foamed polyethylene construction for rowing shells. Using his experience as a rower and Engineer, he knew the material would be perfect for scull construction as it is virtually indestructible and unsinkable, but also stiff and light. Ken then set about designing and purpose building the oven to construct the boats and developed the end-to-end scull manufacturing processes enabling up to three sculls a day to be produced.
Today, more than 20 years later, Ken’s passion and love of rowing and desire to bring rowing to everyone has turned his vision into a very successful company. At EDON Marine, we believe that great design, innovation and superior performance of our sculls make us one of the best boat companies in the world.
EDON Marine produces two sculls, the hugely successful TS515 Training Scull which has been sold globally for over 20 years and was designed to encourage new people to rowing with its amazing stability and safety. More recently, Ken set about designing and creating our innovative Coastal Rowing Scull, created specifically for rowing in the surf.
